- In the mid-90‘s I moved to Scotland to play snare with the Grade 1 Vale Of Atholl Pipe Band under Five-Time World Drum Corps Champion Jim King. During that time I recorded the album ‘Live ‘N Well’ with the Vale and performed throughout Scotland, England, Germany, Brittany, and the Czech Republic.
- I teach a variety of percussion, (pipe band snare, bass, tenor, drum kit and bodhrán) at schools in Perthshire, Scotland.
- Been running the drum programme at Ardvreck School since 2002 and teach snare drum at Strathallan School
- Ran the Pipe Band Drumming programme at Morrison’s Academy for fourteen years and taught bodhrán at the prestigious Glenalmond College.
- Bodhrán Instructor at the Colaisde na Gàidhlig / The Gaelic College in Cape Breton for over 25 years.
- I have taught bodhrán to young, up and coming traditional musicians through the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama’s YouthWorks Program (now the Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland) and students of from ages 4 to 94 at summer programmes of the Pacific Institute Of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts on Vancouver Island, Canada and at numerous music camps throughout the UK and North America.

How can someone go from being an exhausted musician and teacher and depleted soul to a passionate and inspirational leader in the field of music, making videos and internet marketing?
Well, that’s exactly what I did and now I coach other musicians and creatives on how to share their talents with the world.
While getting the chance to teach drumming for a living was a dream come true for me, it got to the point that (because I was teaching so much) my voice was being strained to the max. and told I might need surgery.
These serious voice issues forced me to look at alternatives to teaching one on one and during my journey I discovered how to teach THOUSANDS of people at the same time, even while I slept.
My YouTube videos teaching the Celtic hand drum, the bodhrán, are watched in every single country in the world and have well over 2.4 MILLION views. My online course, BodhránExpert Platinum Membership - Level 1, is one of the first musical instrument online video tutorial courses of its kind that makes the student feel like I’m actually in the room with them, taking them by the hand through their learning journey.

Born and raised in Little Bras d’Or, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada where she was immersed in Celtic music from a young age, Mickey’s passion has always been drumming.
Mickey’s drumming career started 42 years ago as a snare drummer with the Sprigs Of Heather Pipe Band.
She was selected to be part of the 1987 Canada Games Pipe Band and recorded her first album with them.
At the age of sixteen she joined the Halifax Police Pipe Band (now the 78th Highlanders Halifax Citadel).
From the age of 16 to 18, until she moved to the big city for university, Mickey and her piping sister regularly made the 10-hour round trip from Cape Breton to Halifax for band practices.
In the mid-90‘s Mickey moved to Scotland to play snare with the Grade 1 Vale Of Atholl Pipe Band under five-time World Drum Corps Champion Jim King.
During that time she recorded the album ‘Live ‘N Well’ with the Vale and performed throughout Scotland, England, Germany, Brittany, and the Czech Republic.
Over the years Mickey and her piping husband, Mark, have performed on many big stages together, including Celtic Colours International Festival, and with some of the best Trad musicians in the world.

Family Life
I live in the picturesque town of Crieff in Perthshire, Scotland with my husband of twenty-seven years, Scottish musician and composer, Mark Stewart, along with our ninteen-year-old son, Cameron.
Land Of The Castles
I’ve always dreamed of living in the land of castles and now I can actually see one from my window.
